The N4 Maputo Corridor Toll Concession was the first Public Private Partnership venture on a South African Toll Road. The principle contract included the upgrading and rehabilitation of approximately 380km of freeway between Witbank and Maputo in Mozambique. The works included the development, operation and maintenance of a toll road system which consists of roads, bridges, drainage structures, toll facilities and related works.
The N4 West Toll concession involved the upgrading and rehabilitation of approximately 380km of freeway between Warmbaths to Pretoria on the N1 and from Pretoria to Skilpadhek Border Post beyond Zeerust in the Northern Province. On the N4 the works included the development, operation and maintenance of a toll road system which consists of roads, bridges, drainage structures, toll facilities and related works.
The N3 Toll concession involves the upgrading and rehabilitation of approximately 420km of freeway between Johannesburg and Durban. The concession was one of a series of planned Public Private Partnerships (PPP) that were targeted to assist Government with establishing sound infrastructure road networks around the country. The works included the enhancement of the road capacity by the addition of lanes on specific sections. Three new toll plazas have been constructed at Bergville, De Hoek and Tugela East. A complete new 100 km section of road has been constructed over a four year period that effectively reduced the distance between Johannesburg and Durban by 13 kms.
The project entailed the upgrading of the airport approach road from a single carriageway to a dual carriageway facility, in addition to the upgrading of an overhead bridge and interchange ramps.
The project consisted of: ~Pretreatment and resurfacing of 24.8km of the N2 (Section 6) between Mossel Bay and Groot Brak.
This contract comprises the upgrading of section 19 of the N12 including four interchanges. From west to east they comprise of the; Rietfontein, Rondebult, Atlas Road and the Tom Jones interchanges. Trichardt Bridge between Rondebult and Atlas Road demolis reconstructed.
Blue Quartz International Consulting Engineers and Project Managers was appointed by the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure for the Roads improvement in the Soweto Region. The project was an Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), which focuses on skills development. It is one of overnment's programmes aimed at alleviating poverty and provide income through temporary work for the unemployed.
