The existing shopping centre, office building, library and town hall are to be demolished to allow for an efficient integrated design. The new development will comprise of a 30 000m² shopping centre, 20 000m² office block, 2 000m² police station, Taxi Rank and refurbishment of the BP Service Station, Magistrate Court and the Taxi Rank.
The Botswana Innovation Hub is a state of the art integrated data centre to drive the delivery of government services to the people. The design scope comprises of two independent data centre facilities. Housing all state departments and police services data requirements.
The Air Cargo building is a 12000m2 warehouse facility. Air freight is handled into and from the building, which facilitates speedy loading of planes on the one side and on the other side of the building an extensive loading area gives quick access to Cape Town’s road network.
The civil engineering work was treated as a separate contract and in this manner vast lead time was gained in the letting of rental space and consolidating cash flow before the builder moved onto site.
The decentralization of businesses from the Cape Town CBD offered an opportunity for this office park development. The site is adjacent to the Kenilworth Shopping Centre and borders the Kenilworth Racecourse. The location offers easy access to the highway and main transport routes to Claremont and Wynberg.
The office park was constructed in phases with a final outcome of five separate buildings totaling some 6500m2.
The project involved the principle inspections of 22 bridges in the Cape Peninsula and Mpumalanga. These included railway bridges, road-over-road, road-over-rail, road-overcanal and culverts. The purpose of the inventory was to update the database systems of the respective clients and to ascertain the state of the bridges and prioritise any repair work. All this work had to be done to a prescribed format.
